Spiritual Ceremony
approximate length: 18–22 minutes (depending on music, readings, and unity ritual).
Processional
(Music plays as the wedding party and couple enter. Guests are seated. When the couple is ready, the officiant begins.)
Welcome & Opening Words
Beloved family and friends, welcome.
We gather here today, in the spirit of love, to witness and bless the union of [Partner 1] and [Partner 2].
You may be seated. In honor of this special occasion, I ask that you take a moment to ensure your electronic devices are silenced.
Marriage is more than a legal bond. It is a sacred covenant — a promise of heart, mind, body, and spirit. It is a journey where two souls walk together, honoring the divine spark within each other, and choosing — day after day — to love, to respect, and to grow as one.
Today we do not just observe this commitment — we surround it with our presence, our joy, and our blessings, so that this marriage may be strengthened by the love in this community.
Acknowledgment of Families & Loved Ones
Marriage is not only the union of two people, but also the joining of families and communities.
We honor the parents, family members, and friends who have shaped [Partner 1] and [Partner 2] into who they are today.
We also take a moment to remember those loved ones who are not able to be here physically, but whose spirits are present with us in love.
(Optional: brief moment of silence.)
Reading or Reflection on Love (Optional)
Declaration of Intent (The “I Do’s”)
Officiant:
[Partner 1] and [Partner 2], you have come here today surrounded by those who love you, to declare your intention to join together in marriage.
So I ask you:
[Partner 1], do you take [Partner 2] to be your partner in life — to love, honor, and cherish them, through all seasons of life, as long as you both shall live?
[Partner 1]: “I do.”
Officiant:
[Partner 2], do you take [Partner 1] to be your partner in life — to love, honor, and cherish them, through all seasons of life, as long as you both shall live?
[Partner 2]: “I do.”
Exchange of Vows – May write your own in place of these.
Officiant:
You may now share your vows with each other.
(Couple may read personal vows, or officiant may guide them in repeat-after-me vows.)
Repeat-after-me example:
I, [Name], take you, [Name], to be my partner in life.
I promise to walk with you in light and in shadow,
to honor the divine within you,
to celebrate your joys and comfort your sorrows,
and to love you wholly, faithfully, and forevermore.
Exchange of Rings
Officiant:
May these rings be blessed as the symbol of your sacred bond. Just as the circle has no end, may your love be endless, faithful, and true.
Partner 1, repeat after me as you place the ring on [Partner 2]’s finger:
“With this ring, I honor you.
I give you my heart, my hand, and my love,
in the name of all that is sacred.”
Partner 2, repeat after me as you place the ring on [Partner 1]’s finger:
With this ring, I honor you.
I give you my heart, my hand, and my love,
in the name of all that is sacred.
Unity Ritual (Optional)
Closing Blessing
As you go forth into the journey of marriage, may you always find strength in one another’s arms, courage in one another’s hearts, and joy in one another’s laughter.
May your love deepen with each passing day,
and may your union shine brightly,
a blessing to all who are touched by it.
Pronouncement
[Partner 1] and [Partner 2], you have declared your vows and exchanged rings before your community, and you have joined your lives in love.
It is my great joy, and by the authority given to me, to pronounce you married — united in heart, soul, and spirit.
You may now seal your vows with a kiss.
Presentation of the Couple
Family and friends, it is my great honor to present to you, for the very first time, [Partner 1] and [Partner 2], joined in marriage. Let us celebrate them!
Recessional
(Music begins, couple walks down the aisle together, followed by the wedding party and guests.)
